History of the Flame of Love – Flame of Love

Feast of the Flame of Love
February 2, 2024

On August 1, 1962, the Virgin Mary asked Elisabeth Kindelmann the following: "I beg the Holy Father to fix for you the feast of the Flame of Love on February 2, the feast of Candlemas. I don't want a special feast."

So it is at the Virgin Mary's request that we celebrate every year the feast of the Flame of Love, which she has fixed for February 2, the feast of Candlemas.

Among the Jews, forty days after birth, every first-born son had to be presented to the Lord. This was the day when Jesus was presented to the Temple by Mary and Joseph: they conformed to the law of the Lord, but in truth, He (Jesus) was coming to meet the people of believers. At the same time, his mother Mary received a special blessing from the priests.

In the Catholic tradition, this is a feast of light, highlighting the beautiful words of the old man Simeon: "My eyes have seen salvation [...]: light that reveals itself to the nations and gives glory to your people Israel."
Simeon and the prophetess Anne had come to the Temple under the impulse of the Holy Spirit and recognized in this child the Messiah, whom they enthusiastically announced to all.
